Lanthanum chloride is a salt of lanthanum and hydrochloric acid. It is widely used in the production of electronics, optics, ceramics and catalysts.
This compound also has phosphor properties, that is, the ability to absorb energy and emit light of a certain wavelength. This property makes it useful in the production of phosphors for televisions, computer monitors and other electronic devices.


The production technology is usually carried out by a chemical reaction between lanthanum oxides (La2O3) and hydrochloric acid (HCl). This process can be represented by the following reaction:

Al2o3 + 6HCl -> 2alcl3 + 3H2O

To begin with, lanthanum oxide is mixed with hydrochloric acid in the reactor. As a result of the reaction, chloride and water are formed. After that, the resulting salt can be isolated and purified from impurities.
